calculating, shrewd, and manipulative, most people are none the wiser when it comes to her intentions. clara is usually just seen as a golden girl with a golden, guarded heart. however, she is ambitious to a fault, wanting to take the world and make it revolve around her. even with such a calculative demeanor, clara has not lost her primitive desires for true love, and romance. however, love is a worthwhile sacrifice for her greater dreams of rising to power. she puts much pressure on perfection upon herself that she expects no less from others, making her brutally exacting. she is a discerning judge of character but she does not discriminate when it comes to the company she keeps. clara believes everyone has their own purpose. in her eyes, they are mere pawns – available at her disposal and easy to be rid of. she is selfish, ruthlessly so, but still cares for close friends and family.
clara is warm and welcoming when she chooses to be. if the mood so takes her, she can exude outward deference and hospitality. in gatherings, she attempts to be the life of the party. her gestures are open and expressive but if one knew how to look further into those eyes, they would see that it all was empty. miss herz seems to be without emotion or at least, any honest ones yet there is a seething intensity of it under the placid exterior. she exercises with respect to herself, her history with regards to her life, the people in it and the relationships she shares with them, an ever wakeful reserve. hers is a coldness beyond her years in her persistent refusal to let anyone into her heart. however, clara bursts into flame once her fiery temper gets a hold of her. the voracious fire spares no one -- guilty or innocent.
she is easily angered by stupidity and this could be seen by a sudden flare of rage in her eyes. clara's usual demeanor may become less accommodating and even indifferent. if she does not get what she wants, she tends to retreat within herself. she becomes unnervingly silent in her encounters and then explodes once she is in the safety of her own chambers. as a child, after a fit of rage, usually ending up with muffled screams, torn papers and broken vases, she would merely smile as though nothing happened and continue on with her business. this girl is extremely competitive, and it would be most wise not to challenge her. she does not like being questioned, and has no qualms about punishing anybody who does so. her last name alone commands respect (or so she likes to imagine), which clara demands. the consequences are dire for those who disregard her family name. should anyone attempt to tarnish her name, clara will not immediately retort. instead, she will smile innocently and quip with a witty remark. and then, if the bashing goes on, she will not stop until revenge is extracted.
clara has learned through the daily innings of primary and secondary school that a smile must endure even at the most painful blows. she prides herself to be a virtuoso of deceit. her greatest fear would be being discovered for what she truly is: a conniving little brat with anger issues. miss herz careful of the ties she weaves, ensuring that none could hold her accountable should any intricacies occur. she is mortally afraid of failure and rejection. she fears; guarding her heart with a primal ferocity that allows her to repel such burdens as friendship and love. clara would not easily admit that there is a part of her that needs, perhaps even yearns, for true friendship and romance. this does not mean that she shies from beneficial attachments, as it would be unwise to exclude allies; she simply forms no true and lasting internal attachments. clara's only loyalty is to herself.
at a young age, clara herz was promised to a boy of her age, a family friend named marius-abel wolffgang. the boy lived in bremen, the same town that she lived in, and their parents had known each other for quite some time. for the most part, growing up, she found marius to be adorable. he was more feminine than her brothers. she could call him mary, lizzy, or anything else, and it only made a blush creep onto his face, or made him angry. this, somehow, brought great joy to clara, and soon, she found that she wanted to play these little games with her betrothed in an even greater fashion. clara loved seeing marius in an angered state. she put itching powder in his bed, cut his hair when he was trapped, reading a book, and even attempted to find a way to hang him upside down from a tree by setting up a rope trap. now she is twenty three years old, and still enjoys nothing more than making marius-abel wolffgang miserable. only one thing has changed –she no longer wishes to marry him.
